In May MediaTek launched its Helio M70 5G modem, but we still wait for the entire chipset to be released officially. The processor packs the latest Cortex-A77 CPU cores from Arm, GPU engineering from Mali-G77, and AI silicon from within. This 7 nm chipset, codenamed MT6885, forms distinctly in many respects to be a professor at the flagship stage.
A China report claims that the company plans to launch another 7 nm chipset to be used on its 5G midrange chipsets. According to MyDrivers, the design should be the same as the MT6885 and the same chipset that has a modem for Helio M70. Nonetheless, the chip size is going to be smaller and the price also. In the second quarter of 2020, mass production will begin, and it’s no surprise that this processor is manufactured in 7nm. This means that by Q3 or Q4 2020 it might find its way to smartphones. In addition, after two chipsets are completed, the Taiwanese fabless will be moved to TSMC’s 6 nm EUV system. A total of four designs are available, all with a CPU and GPU upgrade. MediaTek aims to increase sales of approximately 100 million chips by 2020.
